Yellowstone: Day 3

We decided it was tie to see some animals and do some more fishing so on day 3 we drove up to north eastern part of the park and did all sorts of things on the way. We firs stopped at Gibbon Falls. I, of course, dropped the camera again! It still worked but that poor thing. Then we drove up along the Soda Butte River were there aren't as many tourist but lots of animals. Grandma and Bumpa told us they all moved to higher ground this year because the rivers on lower ground had been flooded for so long. We saw buffalo, antelope, and all kinds of birds. We were hoping for a bear but had no luck. We stopped along the Soda Butte and did some more serious fishing with Bumpa. Grant was into it but Evy wanted to play in the mud with her bare feet and "make soup" in the river. At one point she lost a pink flip flop down the river but luckily I was fast and that thing stood out. As were leaving Grandma spotted a water snake in the grass on the bank and so Grant tried to chase that guy down for a while but he never found him. Once we were back on the road we decided to go over to Mammoth Hot Springs. I really liked it there because it was like a little town, I mean it is a little town. we stopped for some ice cream and shopping and Grant made a friends with some ground squirrels. It was hilarious! He'd get in this little sunken part of the grass and spy on them and they'd poke their heads up and spy on Grant. When they weren't looking Grant would army crawl closer and closer. Evy wanted to be a part of the fun but she's not as stealthy as Grant and so she scared them. Grant was angry but we had to move on anyway. We drove around the hot spring and then off to home again.
