Grant and all of first grade had their first field trip to a brand new firehouse. It was just a few blocks away so we all walked there and filed in as best we could. Just as the chief starts talking the "alarm" goes off and he listens to see who needs to respond and sure enough they had to leave so we filed out and watched them drive off. It was kind of fun but then what do we do with 80 six year olds who are roused up from the walk? We walked a little under a mile to a playground and played. On our walk back the firefighters were there and able to give us a tour. Grant was super impressed that they had 4 refrigerators which, were for the 4 different shifts, we were told.
